What Weekend?

It's Monday already? Well, that's stupid. Ike's playroom is coming along, but progress has been slowed by a tragic sliding accident -- Ike is ok, just a little busted up and in need of extra cuddle time. In between the big sad tears we managed to paint his room and put the furniture back into place, but there's still a lot of finishing work to do. Plus there are drills and ladders and paint cans everywhere, and we're out of milk. And now Monday is here. Poop on that.

So I'm going to get to setting things straight over here, but I promise you'll be the first to know when Ike's pad is complete. Hopefully it won't take too long to turn our house rightside up... as long as we stay away from the dastardly slide.

The amazing glass encased dioramas are by Thomas Doyle. This guy understands how stressful home ownership can be.

One Thing Leads to Another

Boy, The Fixx really knew what they were talking about. Move one thing in your house, and all of the sudden the entire pad needs an architectural overhaul, from floor to ceiling. I have 800 projects going on right now, and I'm at that stage where I'm ready to just move to someone else's house -- but not just any house. A house with flava. A house like this one, decorated by Parisian designer Sarah Lavoine, featured in Marie Claire Maison.

Perfect mix of elegance and levity -- a splash of graphic boldness anchored by somber darks and weathered antiques. None of the furnishings really pop out, nothing feels like an "it" piece, nothing smacks of furniture museum. Love.

Super hot door color, gorgeous herringbone floors, ceilings like a stairway to heaven... good gravy.

I want to marry this color palette and have rainbow spotted babies.

Utter restraint in the bedroom, but enough texture to keep things interesting. The charcoal door slays me.

Living room, you had me at Jill Greenberg. The aqua paint is not my fave, but I like that this room feels a bit riskier than the others. Guests need something to talk about... or cry about.

Ok I'm off to paint, or perhaps to hatch an elaborate plot to hijack this apartment, depending on how things go.

Happy weekend!

Slumdog Bazillionaire

You deserve a break today -- a break from my annoying, self centered preoccupation with silly paint problems. Ok, I'm also super busy with real life stuff, and I'm currently too tired to attempt painting with a toddler attached to my leg. Don't worry, I haven't lost my obsessive streak (is that even possible?). I have a date with Sanders this afternoon to crystallize my plans for world domination, and I hope to have a mostly revamped nursery by the end of the weekend. Right now I just need something interesting to nudge me towards completion... Something exciting! Something crazy! Something like this:

Marie Claire Maison

I'm sorry, but why did I not think to create Ike a Bollywood themed bedroom? I love the little beds with Ettore Sottsass paint jobs.

On another note, I want to say, Hey! Thanks! For writing in with your thoughtful comments. You've all been such good, helpful listeners. Maybe you have problems that you need to unload? Tell Mama all about it.
