Random Awesome Crazy Cheap Art Source

Ebay. It is the mother. The life giver. The font of greatness.

At least I think so.

Today I straddle the line between insanity and genius. You may decide I have jumped the shark, what with my bad iphone picture posts and now this. I say you may be right. I may be crazy. But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for. Turn out the light...

Don't try to save me.

So the other day I was cruising one of my favorite antique/thrift shops Uncommon Objects and this peeped out from behind the rabble, and by rabble I mean piles of lampshade forms, taxidermied hooves and dusty crocheted blankets. Who buys that crap? Anyway, obviously it caught my eye because it's NEON and AWESOME. And it was only $49.

For some reason (poverty) I didn't buy it and I've been sad ever since. Enter ebay. Same poster, $19.

They had this one, too.

Now I am kind of a snob about art. I try to only buy original stuff, but I've been known to buy vintage posters now and then. I really like how heavy and good these looked in person. Nice paper stock, tight line quality, super saturated colors.

These are so crazy... I imagine them in an all white room with fantastic molding. Here and here.

I am obsessed with this, but it's $120. Still cheap, but not dirt cheap. It would look fabulous in my entry way, though.

I don't know. I just couldn't help myself. I love cats.

This is would shine like a star (duh) in a light cool colored room.

Hand screened. Big. Well under $100. Amazing colors.

There are a lot of ridiculous tweety bird penis booby posters out there, I can't lie. But there are some real gems, too.

If you buy one, please skip the blacklight unless you are 19 and need some ambiance to go with your acid and Meat Beat Manifesto.

Not that I would know anything about all that.

In other news, sorry I haven't posted any big awesome house tours or rug buying guides yet. The babes have been so sick it's dumb and I have to type most of my posts one handed.

Hopefully on to bigger and better things next week.

Until then,

Peace. Love. Other trippy stuff.

There's a Light At the End Of the Tunnel

To all you poor souls in the throes of snowy disaster: I know you are without power, and therefore not even reading this (and if you have -- by some miraculous happenstance -- found electricity, then you are almost certainly doing more important things than blog trolling, like taking hot showers and cooking food and flushing your toilets), but I'm giving you all a shout out nonetheless. Because living like a cave (wo)man in the ice age is totally lame (especially in the absence of exotic fauna, like saber tooth tigers and woolly mammoths) but y'all are some badasses, so I know you're gonna pull through with style. Also, I would like to congratulate you on snagging the most bitchin' moniker for a natural disaster ever: Snowmageddon. There is solace to be found in that kind of excellence. Well, whenever you get around to reading this, just know that I'm rooting for you. And to show my support, I'm shining some bright lights your way. I hope this post finds you soon.

Alright people, let's work together to kick Mother Nature's ass and ensure there are no more natural disaster posts, because the only disasters we should be discussing are entirely domestic. Disasters like: Erin desperately needs a new couch! Erin is dying to move baby Ike's crib out of her room! When can Karly remodel her kitchen?!

You know. Important stuff.

Ok, so I think I got all of the dutch nonsense out of my system yesterday and now I can get back to the task at hand:  waxing poetic about my newest most favoritest shade of yellow: clean, crisp, neon lemony-ish!  (NOT warm murky school bus macaroni).

I just hung a fantastic vintage door on a barn-door track in my living room, I thought I wanted to paint it lime, yet every swatch I looked at just looked so, um, tired.  Then I realized, ah ha!!  I don't want lime, I want lemon.  How could I have been so silly?  I'm obsessed now.  I had a bit of a hard time finding the perfect shade for this post, I had to sift through LOTS of macaroni yellows.  yuck.  But here are more good ones:

Actually, those Etsy kids were all over the lemon yellow:

One of the reasons I want to paint my door yellow is because it's going to open to my black, white and lemon bedroom.  I REALLY REALLY want a bold, graphic lemon bedspread.  Here are some textiles I found with my color mixed in:

Mauste duvet by Pia Holm for Marimekko, Blossom Velvet Box pillow at Urban Outfitters; Warbler Green Pillow by Salvor Fauna available at wandrlust; Toile Lemon Rug by Madeline Weinrib Atelier

As a general rule, I can not afford Madeline Weinrib, here are some other possible textiles for my bedroom:

Flower Mess bedspread by Ferm Living;  Rainbow Jungle Tapestry available at Urban Outfitters;  Pine Dish Towel also by Ferm Living

I am almost in love with the flower mess bedspread, I'm a little worried that it might end up being the wrong shade of yellow in person.  The Rainbow Jungle Tapestry bedspread is cute but I almost can't order it by default... seriously, it has the 3 worst words ever in the title.  And, I know, I know, that is a dish towel, not a bed linen, perhaps I could use it to make a throw or something?

And to see the yellow in a room:

So, after all this fuss I bet you're thinking that this door of mine better be pretty special.  Well, here it is:

I know, I know, the cream looks perfect in this picture, and, why would I want to paint it yellow?  I'm going to be moving things around and adding new stuff.  It's going to look great when it's done.  promise.  I'll share pictures.  On another note, how do you like my stencil wall?  I'll give you a how to on that as soon as I muster the strength to type it all out.

So, what does everyone say?  Are we loving the yellow?
