This Is My Post For Today So There

So, I'm 4 weeks in to my return to blog land and I have yet to venture outside of our own blog for real inspiration.  Let us quickly recall such posts as the one about my coffee table, and the one about my brother's coffee table, and the one about the other coffee table that was so large that it was actually a 10-story tree house.  Something about this full time job slash full time mom gig keeps my leash short but when erin posted these psychedelic pics Monday I immediately craved an entire life shift into a home with small rooms that I could cover surface to surface with insane contrasting pattern.  And a naked lady needlepoint pillow. I stumbled upon the wallpaper company jannelli e volpi, which apparently is super famous and I'm supposed to have known about it but whatever.  Anyway, it looks like a few of their offerings will get me started on my knew psycho house fantasy.

Hell to the yes to the super saturated prisma color floral paper.  On the ceiling?  Yes, fine.

The more subtle little sister.  For the laundry room perhaps?

And lest we forget that they also do floors.  I'm seeing this in the garage.  Matt's not going to be allowed in there anymore.  It will be where I park some expensive black car like a Rolls Royce or some crap.

Oh, wait, did I forget to mention that they make this RGB wallpaper?  Oh geeze, I really didn't mean to make you wait for the most badass wall covering of all time.  Sorry guys.  So yeah, this paper is made from 3 overlapping designs, one entirely in blue, one in green and one in... you guessed it... red.  It rocks my face off so no bad comments.

Here it is from another angle.  You're welcome.

Princes and Crows

I'm having trouble transitioning from holiday vacation mode to the real world, plus I only got four hours of sleep last night (thanks, Ike). So rather than attempting a coherent post, I'm just going to go for a rambling crazy stalker post. Sound good? I thought so, too. But then again, sleep deprivation can make many bad ideas sound delightful -- like mopping your floor at 5am, or drinking copious amounts of coffee just before bedtime. I also find myself frequently mixing up the freezer and the microwave which has been rather hard on the ice cream, but I digress.

I am obsessed with Princes and Crows wallpaper, in particular the Little Prince papers created for kids' rooms.

How awesome is Major Tom? He's flying to the moon in a cloud of... mushrooms. Ahem.

Lots of the Princes and Crows papers are printed on foil backgrounds so samples are a necessity. I ordered some for Ike's room and I can't wait to see them in person -- I hope that Major Tom is as glorious a Klein Blue as he looks in the first picture.

I also ordered some samples of Sea Ballet in gold and silver foil. Not sure what I would do with these, but I could imagine them as framed panels, kind of like a Zuber panorama.

The grown up line of wallpapers is equally lovely, and can be seen in the home of Princes and Crows owner, Alix Soubiran.

"Enchanted Gypsy" is featured in her living room. Sexxxy gold foil. Mmmm hmmm.

The boldly striped "French Room" lends casual elegance to a bedroom.

In my next house, I want "Santy Ano" on my ceiling, or maybe as a plexi covered backsplash. Golden goodness.

I'll keep you updated on my samples. I hope they get here soon. Like yesterday. I'm really not very patient when I'm tired.

The Flavor Of Love

Hot off the presses comes a new tour of epic proportions. Brace yourself for the live/work space of psychedelic wallpaper couturiers, Flavor Paper. Those familiar with Flavor Paper's vertigo inducing patterns drenched in acid brights are probably expecting to see rooms swathed tip to toe in bold, colorful prints, for example these latest offerings created in collaboration with rocker cum designer Lenny Kravitz:

While there are certainly some crazy flashy elements, the net result feeling of Flavor Paper owner Jon Sherman's living space is anything but one dimensional. It's not even two dimensional. Frankly, I'm not even sure it's of this dimension. Let's tour, shall we?

Lodged within a Cobble Hill warehouse, Flavor Paper makes use of its space by stacking a roof deck and penthouse atop their showroom and ground floor print studio.

The roof deck is a study in Memphis geometry.

And the living room oozes bachelor pad cool with its neon ground effects and jazzy art.

Mylar paper lines one wall of the bathroom, creating the perfect, ahem, foil for a super shiny luxe black tub.

Meanwhile, the master bedroom features a wavy papered ceiling in a muted colorway -- all the better to highlight the textured faux fur wall.

Marshmallows, anyone?

Smooth white limestone runs from the entry onto the counter, providing contrast for the dark moc croc embossed walls and kitchen cabinets. This is a classy custom joint.

I thought I had a plan to redo our master bedroom, but I was wrong. Velvet chevron bed/headboard/ceiling: check. Mounds of (hopefully) faux furry plushy goodness: check. A razzle dazzle gold wall, painted with the same pigments the US Treasury uses: check. Oh, and ps: wall to wall carpet is baaaaaaaa-ck.

The guest bathroom -- outfitted in what looks to be stainless herringbone tile -- is not to be denied.

And of course, no penthouse would be complete without its own DJ booth. This one has a little extra lagniappe, courtesy of the mural featuring a Mardi Gras Indian chief. Sherman obviously loves New York, but doesn't forget to pay homage to his New Orleans roots.

The lofty penthouse is shit-your-pants good, but the heart of the building is set at ground level for all the world to see:

Eat your heart out, Willy Wonka. Shiny foil wallpaper is even sexier than chocolate.

Many thanks to Raina of If the Lampshade Fits for directing me to the full story in NY Magazine.
